The moment our lecturers showed us the project brief for this assignment, we knew that this is for sure a 2 person group work. Together with my groupmate, we are required to create a space for both of us to have our tea drinking session based on any tea culture. We, somehow, decided to use Chinese Tea Culture as one of the main features to be added in our tea pavilion.
Before the kick-off of this project, we are asked to do some postcards based on the photos we have taken from Project 2A. From here, we are to draw or sketch some images, where these images are to be as abstract as possible from the actual photo. The main objective of this small activity is to let us to develop the objects inside the photo into 2D form and from there we should develop them again into 3D form, which at last, it should be our Tea for Two model.
PROJECT 2B - TEA FOR TWO

After the small activity, we then have to construct some models to illustrate the drawings we have chosen.
Next, together with our partner, we have to combine one of the abstract drawings we have chosen as our design concepts. These two design concepts will be the basics for our Tea for Two model and from there, we have to add in some of the Chinese Tea culture elements into the tea pavilion. Our Tea for Two concepts are stacking and overlapping. When Chinese Tea culture are added in, we choose the building form for our tea pavilion to become curve and smooth surfaces, as it suites the feeling after drinking tea.
As part of the submission requirements, series of detail orthographic drawings in scale 1:50 were included in our presentation board.
Besides, a list of process models were also brought for presentation together with our final model in scale 1:25 sitted firmly on the site we have chosen.
Throughout this project, I learnt that how to generate form and space through architectural conceptualisation, whereby we, as the designer, should emphasize and explore the needs of the user. In addition, I learnt the significance of spatial organization and also design intentions in developing the building to become more architectural proposition, which I believe they are some of the stepping stones to become a good architect in the future.
