This project calls for a design of a simple public building with some complexity that includes the site topography and vegetation, socio-cultural events and variety of sustainable design stratergies. Besides, it aims to develop awareness of environmental sustainability in architectural design. Moreover, it also targeted to develop the student's ability to meet the imperative and inter-related environmental and social needs, as well as make poetry with the buildings.
The site of this project is within the area of Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) Environmental Interpretive Centre (EIC) in Sepang. Gifted with mangrove trees at the site, we were to design a Nature Appreciation Centre which is to locate near to the EIC. Since this is the only project for this semester, we were allocated with enough time to discuss with our respective tutors about our proposal.
PROJECT : NATURE APPRECIATION CENTRE
From this project, I learnt to apply ideas of environmental sustainability in design. Besides, I learnt to combine the environmental needs, the site context and also the users' experiences within simple building design in the open suburban context. Moreover, I learnt to design and create the architectural spaces with consideration of environmental postics in relation to the basic natural and building context, which will later affects the users' experiences.
