This project, somehow, can be said, is only a warm up project to all the semester 2 students. We were asked to do produce a set of documentary files according to the architect and his wonder work assigned by the lecturers. As this is a group project, we were asked to divide ourselves in 5-6. Different groups work on different architects and the architect that we had to researced was Ludwig Mies van der Rohe with his masterpiece, Barcelona Pavilion.
In this video, we researched the infos from all sources, from library to wireless internet website. We also tried to put in all the things we as an architectural student should know into this video as we have to present this video in front of everyone. From here, we get to know and identify various architects and their works.
PROJECT 1 - FAMOUS PEOPLE FAMILIAR FACES (DIAGRAMMATIC ABSTRACTION)
After the presentation of this video, we were required to further our research on the Barcelona Pavilion. We were to complete a set of architectural drawings of the building on A3 size tracing paper. These drawings are to be presented together with at least 15 analysis on A5 size postcards.
By the end of the presentation for this project, we learnt that the architectural spaces are basically the composition from a single dot to line, and from line it transforms into plane and finally a frame. Besides, we also learnt how to analyse the architectural work by the Masters all around the world.
On top of that, we have to build a "white" model to represent this particular building. This conceptual model has to be as simple as possible as it replicates the initial form of the building before it was built.
