As a continuation from our previous project, we are to further develop our tea pavilion in Project 2B into a tea house within the area of 150 square meter. We can choose to stay with our concept used in Tea for Two or durther develop it. The duration for this final project is about one month and of course, we all are required to have a verbal presentation to the external crits at the presentation day.

Throughout the process, I encountered a lot of harships, for example the spaces and the form of the building that will create a sense of feeling to my user.

PROJECT 2C - TEA HOUSE

SInce my concept is based on layering, which it is also developed from my previous project, I have to strongly show the concept by bringing it into my model in order to show connection between this tea house and my tea pavilion. With helps from the tutor, i finally finished my project in time and of course, my final models also changed a lot especially my floor plan as shown below.

I used balsa, model paper, model board and plastics for my final model submission. The process in doing this model is somehow quite time consuming comparing to draw out the architectural drawing of this model.

Everything went well at the presentation day. The external crit for my panel was also quite lenient to all of us. He, however, did comment on some of our works, both model and presentation board. He gave us useful advices for further improvement. He also encouraged us to work even better in the future. Somehow, he said we are just Year One student in architecture course, so, there are still rooms for improvement.

All in all, i learnt the notion of concepts, program and process in architectural design, where we should develop everything from our concept to the form of the building. Besides, I learnt to understand the specific requirement of users. In addition, I have been taught that design does not only realte to its appearance, but also its function and spaces for the users. Not to forget, we should also need to take the site analysis we had done previously as our reference in throughout the design process. We should take into account especially in the wind direction, sun path, and another factors that might affect the building when it has built on site.
