The objective of this project is none other than to identify and analyze the spatial order and spatial poetics of the architectural precedents. We were asked to select two buildings and analyze the feelings and senses when one entered into the buildings. The buildings have to be either linear or centric and also they must be either pre-modern movement or contemporary. After discussing among our group member, we decided to analyze the linear and pre-modern building, Jewish Museum in Berlin, Germany by Daniel Libeskind and a centric and contemporary building, The Temple of Heaven in Shanghai, China by the Emperors during Qing Dynasty.

PROJECT 1A - PRECEDENT STUDIES : ANALYSING SPATIAL POETICS & SPATIAL TYPOLOGIES IN ARCHITECTURE

From this project, we learnt the importance of having precedent studies, which is to enhance our knowledge in designing poetic spaces. Besides, it it also important to go in deeper in the reasons and studies of the buildings as the buildings are mostly designed with purposes and based on their stories behind, which this will largely benefits our design in the future.
